Blogging Policy & Code of Ethics for Deadwood Blog
We have adapted Charlene Li’s (Forrester) Blogging Policy and Code of Ethics as well as Lenn Pryor’s (Microsoft) semi-informal Blogging Policy in order to provide guidelines for bloggers and to build trust with readers, producers, and others involved with the production of Deadwood.

We just want to thank everyone Background and crew for the great time. My wife had the walk through part on 12/9/05 the night shoot.
We at the HBO Deadwood Community Board are disgusted and devastated at HBO’s decision not to renew the actors’ contracts. All of us.. the fans, actors, Mr. Milch and every one of you had been promised a fourth season of the most incredible television series ever made. We may not know exactly what you do every day, but believe me, we sure as hell appreciate it. We know this program wouldn’t exist without you. And now we want you to know that we’re working our butts off to do what we can to get you back to work and us back in front of our tv screens on Sunday nights.

Since we received this horrible news last week, we’ve been working our tails off on a massive email, telephone, letter-writing, word of mouth, etc. campaign to get DEADWOOD it’s deserved full fourth season. We’re reaching out to media nationwide. We’re bombarding HBO, Time-Warner, cable companies, blogs, newspapers, t.v. stations, etc. with letters and emails. Now we’re getting out the big guns and have launched a pledge drive to place a full page ad in next Thursday’s National Edition of Daily Variety. In only 30 hours we’ve received approximately 45% of our goal of $6,475.00. We believe this ad will reach a huge industry audience. We can only hope it’s successful, but we’re more than willing to try. We haven’t given up and we ain’t goin’ down without a fight.
Now we need your help. Please let everyone you know who loves Deadwood about our campaign. Please ask them to help in any way they can. Writing letters, sending emails, making calls, etc. We have tons of information on the HBO bulletin board. They needn’t be shy about posting a question or comment or emailing any of us through the board’s link (done by clicking on our user name) if they wish. However this turns out, we sincerely thank each and every one of you for giving us the best damn time we’ve ever had… DEADWOOD.

My memory is sometimes faulty, but I seem to remember David Milch telling us that we had been picked up for two more seasons, making five total. I know for certain that we were told at least one more season.
If HBO told him we were picked up for either one or two seasons, and he passed that info on to us, does that give us grounds for a law suit? Are there any Lawyers amoung us that can answer this question?

I Worked with everybody that is on this blog and im sad what i heard i worked most of season 3 with everybody there. My Brother And myself on the group shot with Steve the Ad Brother Heard from Maileen about the News I Enjoyed My Self On Deadwood had alot of fun I always thought it was the story that made show Work Always.

I think there could be just as many women watching Deadwood as men. Does HBO not know that we LOVE COWBOYS? REAL Risk takers. They need to keep Deadwood alive, Renew their contracts and finally give us what we want!
I just read that HBO has reached the decision to discontinue Deadwood. Earlier today I learned that Ford Motor Company has decided to discontinue the Taurus, which is the best selling automobile ever built with over 600,000 units sold each year for the past six years.
With the demise of the Sopranos just around the corner with only eight episodes left, it is a natural to have Deadwood take up the slack that will occur when Tony and company bids farewell.
How can the decision makers at HBO be as stupid as their counterparts at Ford.
The only reason that I pay a premium to have HBO on my cable system has been the Sopranos and Deadwood. If anyone owns any shares of HBO they had best be selling it before the stock goes down the toilet.
The day that Deadwood runs it’s last episode is the day that I cancel HBO and good riddance

I cannot believe a show as amazing as Deadwood could be canceled. It is simply the best thing that I have ever seen on television. There is not one aspect of the show that does not completely blow me out of the water. The background characters are riveting, the set is stunning and the acting is flawless. Scene after scene has reduced me to a sobbing, hiccuping mess on my couch from Al’s final scene with the suffering Reverand, the Doc’s anguished plea to God to Charlie and Jane standing at Wild Bill’s grave talking to him.
I doubt that HBO will change their mind so I will simply say thank-you to all of you involved with the show. You brought something wonderful into my life and I am grateful to everyone of the Deadwood folks for what they created.
But, I have noticed an increase of profanity in my vocabulary since discovering your show.
If HBO ends DEADWOOD, I will end my subscription.
They ended Carnivale & left fans hanging.
They need to advertise these GREAT shows better if they want more viewers. I do not even watch regular tv.
I am sure many others will stop viewing HBO if they ignore fans.
Surely the Powers at HBO in all their ability to recognize genius and provide the outlet for that creativity must realize that Deadwood rates among the top of the list. The writers and actors of this series are just now, in the 3rd season, “in the Flow” and I see it not only as entertaining but a perfect example of synergy where the whole is much more than the sum of the parts. If letters from fans have any influence at all let this one stand and a heartfelt request that these artist be allowed to “run” with it until there is nothing left. I’ll be there till the very end.

That said, as a loyal fan, I was most disappointed by what I saw as the enormous pretentiousness and (dare I say it) pseudo-intellectualism that pervades much of Mr. Milch’s direction and conceptualization, as contained in a revent DVD. For example, for him to say that a scene in which an actor carries a pig on his shoulder while brandishing a pistol encapsulates all life—oh brother. Let’s get a grip. I know this is a great TV series, but let’s not invest it with such dense layers of meaning that it takes on a theater-of-the-absurd quality. I hate to break it to you, but those dense layers of meaning simply do not get conveyed to the audience in most scenes. My advice to Mr. Milch is to keep it simple, direct, and human, and don’t grasp for the Melville-esque. It does not come compute.

Even though i worked just a few episodes on season 2 and season 3, I miss all the fun of working on such a great show. I know, all us :chinaman” look alike, reference my picture above, ( fourth row last picture on the right). I am glad that I have run into so many of you on other projects. I Started watching television series BECAUSE of HBO. Many of the other series were just to corny. I became addicted to Sopranos, loved Carnivale, I had weekly parties at my house to watch Deadwood every Sunday (which became a bigger event than the Monday night football parties). Then the Sopranos finale was an immense disappointment (So bad that I consider the series a waste of time), Carnivale ended abruptly and left us all hanging, and now Deadwood is
